CAN I INSTALL SOLAR POWER AT MY HOME?
Solar Systems in Australia will produce more power that they would in most parts of Europe, despite Europeans being early adopters of the technology. In Bondi, a north facing roof between 20 and 30 degrees is the most ideal positioning. Lower or higher pitches can also be done successfully. Panels that face east or west will also still generate good results, but circa 15-17 percent less than they would on the north. Eastern panels will generate power earlier in the day with the sun rising from that aspect, but north and western panels will produce power later in the day until the sun sets. Many of our clients decide to put a large portion of the solar panels on the western side, as it improves the production later in the day when many of their appliances are in use.
It should be noted that solar panels work on sunlight, not heat. Hotter days as a rule have more sunlight and hence better production, but the performance of the solar system will vary considerable from day to day depending on such things as cloud cover etc.

UPGRADING YOUR EXISTING SYSTEM?
To upgrade a battery system currently at your Penrith home, all you need to do is add a battery inverter, a special metering unit and the battery to your system. A battery inverter works a differently to a solar inverter. A solar inverter only has to convert DC power from the panels into AC power for your home. A battery inverter will need to convert DC power from the batteries into AC power for the home and convert AC power from the home, which could come from the grid or your existing solar system to DC power for the batteries.
Its important to note that batteries store power in DC and not AC.
The best time to store power is when you’re producing excess to your needs right at that time. The best time to use your stored power is when your solar power system is not meeting your household demand at that time.
The metering unit is important, it tells the battery inverter when excess production is occurring so it knows when to store power and when to draw power from the batteries. Each battery inverter is compatible with its own metering device such as the Fronius Smart Meter, Enphase Envoy-S Metered and SMA Energy Meter.
