Solar power systems are built to be durable and reliable, however, just like a car, regular servicing is the best way to ensure that it continues to perform as first installed and remains safe for your family.
Before you call about an inverter fault code you are seeing, we strongly recommend to shut down your solar energy system as we find that on restarting it, this corrects many inverter fault code issues.
The cost for maintaining your system in peak efficiency is less than you think. Call today to schedule a system and battery health check today.
Answers To Some Frequently Asked Questions
Is my system covered by a warranty?
Every solar PV panel and battery we install is covered by a manufacturers warranty, usually a minimum of 10 years on solar panels. Warranties on solar PV panels and batteries will differ from manufacturer to manufacturer. It pays to check on this at the time of system selection.
What does the warranty cover?
Most mechanical defects will be covered under the warranty as long as they are deemed a manufacturing fault.
It is important to understand the warranty terms and conditions of the supplier of the system you select.
Are there Australian quality standards that apply to PV panels and inverters?
Australians must be very careful when choosing any solar energy products given the Australia has seen the market flooded with substandard and potentially dangerous imports now sold over the counter here. We only install solar PV panels and inverters accredited by the Clean Energy Council – Australia’s recognised body for clean energy.
Will my solar panels withstand Sydney’s extreme weather conditions?
All solar panels meeting Australia’s Clean Energy Council’s quality standards are designed to withstand the harsh weather conditions found in all Sydney & NSW locations. This includes extreme 50 degree heat to freezing cold of high altitude locations. Manufacturers put all their solar panel models through extreme tests such as hail strike, searing heat and temperatures below freezing.
That said, we strongly recommend our annual programmed servicing check of the full system to ensure optimal efficiency is maintained.
Does my solar power system work all the time?
Your power system works non stop during the day to produce power for your home. At night, however, there is not enough sunlight for it to continue working. So it is completely normal for your solar power system to turn off when there is no longer sun and then resume work at first light in the morning.
Will my solar power system work during a power outage?
No. In the event of a local power outage, your system will switch off automatically and remain inactive until the power comes back on. This is a mandatory safety feature of the solar systems we install. The reason this occurs is to protect technicians who may be working on a blacked-out grid system without realising it.
Why is there an error/fault description displaying on my system?
Occurrences such as voltage spikes, can make your inverter manually shut down. This occurs in order to protect you and your property. This occurrence will cause an error notice to display.
This will generally correct itself overnight. However, you may also try restarting your system manually as noted above. If the error message persists, call us and one of our highly qualified solar technicians will come and attend to it.
Why is my solar power system not working as inefficiently as it used to?
If you have noticed a drop in your energy savings, there are a number of things that you should check first before thinking your solar power system has a fault:
- Check your power bills to see if you have been using more power in day to day consumption than normal. If this has occurred, you will receive a higher electricity bill because of it.
- Check the rate at which you are being charging you for power. You may be paying more per quarter because of additional costs your supplier is imposing.
- Make a visual check of the solar PV panels. Its often surprising what can cause panels from performing correctly, a fallen tree branch or similar that is now covering the panels is often found.
Should I get my solar power system regularly serviced and if so how often?
Regular yearly Solar PV panel and batter servicing is strongly recommended. It’s easy to arrange with us and an important way to ensure that your system remains safe and effective year round. Call today for one of our highly qualified solar technicians to come and do our comprehensive audit and clean of your entire unit and batteries.
Will we service and repair solar systems installed by other companies?
Yes, our highly qualified solar technicians are familiar will all solar units being installed across Sydney and we are happy to service any unit you may have had installed.
How long does it take for your 10 point service visit?
So long as we have full access to your main inverter, switchboard and roof etc. Our highly qualified solar technicians typically complete most system servicing in two hours.
If repair work is required, we will advise you and quote for this seperate to the cost of the annual service.
